Activities

Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

At Chyulu Wilderness Camp, campers participate in projects across four main areas – Adventure Expedition, Community Volunteering, Conservation and Mindfulness – for a memorable, hands-on experience of eco-tourism and sustainable development in the heart of the African savannah.

For students aged 15 and above preparing their high school diploma, our programme specifically fulfils the requirements of CAS for the IB and the EPQ at the A-Level. Although we have a proven standard programme which covers our four main pillars, we can work with schools to create bespoke programming. Please get in touch with us beforehand if you are interested.

Adventure

Trek into the heart of Africa with outdoor adventure and wildlife spotting led by Maasai guides and rangers on foot or in safari jeeps.

Explore the cloud forest of the Chyulu Hills, one of the most iconic landscapes on the continent, to analyse its biodiversity in the company of guides and a botanist.

Conservation

Live in harmony with your surroundings, learning how nature can be a resource of value to local land-holders and how humans and wildlife can sustainably co-exist. Our hands-on projects put you at the source to assess and action effective solutions.

Build a personal conservation project with our experts that you will then go on to promote in your home country.

Help to reforest Maasailand by working in a tree nursery and work on organic farms.

Community

Offer your time and support to the community, spending time with Maasai children, organising community sports and participating in traditional arts & crafts.

Teach in a primary school to share your knowledge and ideas, improving their resources and implementing educational projects to benefit both teachers and students.

Engage with the Maasai culture by making a film or documentary about the Maasai and their traditions, including learning the Maasai language, African drumming and the art of bushcraft.

Mindfulness

Develop your understanding of the African culture, gaining experience of autonomy, meditation, self-realisation and African traditions to enrich your mind and enhance your well-being. You will be encouraged to step outside of your comfort zone and build your self-confidence.

Each camp programme lasts one full week, offering an immersive experience of living in the African savannah. Each day, campers will participate in a mix of modules in the morning, afternoon and evening.
